The Sanctificationist of Ajo
Founder & ramrod, a proponent
of least said is soonest mended,
she bermed the soil, certain
the workings of the spirit transform us
into raised flower beds,
her sanctification a thorn in the flesh
of those husbands subject to root rot
& a face-saving semblance
of daytime control. Oh, that shadow war
on rooftops, every woman beholden
for small necessities, every man
an unflappable giant, striding
as if he owned the town.
